  20.      _l_e_x_m_a_r_k_o_p_t_r_a is a System V printer driver for the Lexmark Optra line of
  21.      printers. The Lexmark 4039 Plus can also be driven with the _l_e_x_m_a_r_k_o_p_t_r_a
  22.      driver.

  24.      Lexmark Optra printers are OEM'ed to Genicom as the Genicom 7910, 7912
  25.      and 7916 and are supported by this driver.  (The Optra is OEM'ed to other
  26.      vendors and they should also work.)

  28.      The Lexmark Optra C Color Laser Printer is not supported (use the generic
  29.      color PostScript driver for the Optra C).
  30.  
  31.      The _l_e_x_m_a_r_k_o_p_t_r_a driver reads a PostScript file from standard in.  A
  32.      filename can also be used for input.  The driver pre-pends Printer Job
  33.      Language (PJL) commands to the input stream and writes it to standard
  34.      out.  The PJL commands generated vary based on the command line options
  35.      passed to the driver.

  37.      The output from the _l_e_x_m_a_r_k_o_p_t_r_a  driver is typically piped to the
  38.      _p_h_a_n_d_l_e_r(_1) driver or the _n_e_t_h_a_n_d_l_e_r(_1) driver for delivery to the
  39.      printer.  This is done in the _l_e_x_m_a_r_k_o_p_t_r_a__m_o_d_e_l file found in
  40.      /var/spool/lp/model.

  42.      The _l_e_x_m_a_r_k_o_p_t_r_a driver opens and updates the POD files for the specified
  43.      printer.  The file <_p_r_i_n_t_e_r_n_a_m_e>._c_o_n_f_i_g contains the detailed information
  44.      on the printer's capabilities, <_p_r_i_n_t_e_r_n_a_m_e>._s_t_a_t_u_s contains the
  45.      information on operational status of the printer, and <_p_r_i_n_t_e_r_n_a_m_e>._l_o_g
  46.      contains the information on print job history.  For more information on
  47.      printer database files refer to the _l_i_b_p_o_d(_3) man page.
